HOW DOES BOTOX® WORK?

Botox® works by actually paralyzing the muscle that it is injected into. It blocks chemicals that cause facial muscles to contract, thereby relaxing them. By blocking the release of a chemical that causes these muscles to contract, Botox® enables them to relax.

WHAT AREAS CAN I TREAT?

The most common is the frown lines between the brows, the forehead and crows feet.

WHAT KIND OF RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?

You can expect to see results 3-5 days following your treatment. The results last between 3-4 months depending on the size of the muscle and the amount of Botox® injected.

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?

Botox® is quick and minimally invasive. Your doctor makes a few injections into the muscle at the area of treatment. No local anesthetic cream is required, although we may choose to numb to area with an ice pack prior to injection. Discomfort is minimal. The entire procedure takes 5-10 minutes. You may resume your normal activity.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

The most common side effects include headache, bruising at the injection site and temporary eyelid drooping. We take great pleasure as plastic surgeons to understand the anatomy of the face and inject the correct muscles. There are some patients who do not respond to Botox® or become less responsive overtime due to formation of antibodies.
